The founders had strong opinions but no framework. They'd been circling the same five names for three months. The name needed to be: distinctive in a crowded ESG/climate space, easy to say in English and German (primary markets), and available on trademark and .com.
We started with a landscape audit — 30 direct and adjacent competitors — to map the naming conventions in the space and identify whitespace. Generated 60 candidates across four naming territories (descriptive, evocative, invented, compound). Scored all 60 using PhonoPair. Presented the top 12 with full analysis. Ran pronunciation testing with German native speakers on the 3 finalists.
The chosen name scored 81 — "Very Strong" tier. It cleared the German pronunciation test, passed USPTO preliminary search, and the .com was available. The founders closed a seed round six weeks after launch.
